You have probably heard by now about Semaglutide or the new weight loss shot!

It’s all over the news and so many celebrities who lost a lot of weight quickly have admitted to taking Semaglutide while others have denied it.  

At Healthy Solutions Medspa in Bucks County, PA, we have been providing weight loss services for over 10 years now with Dr. Luciano and are experts in all things medical weight loss.

How does Semaglutide help you lose weight?

Semaglutide is a medication taken via a self administered injection prescribed by a Doctor which increases the amount of insulin that is produced by the pancreas, while also decreasing the amount of glucagon produced from the liver.

Treating Melasma with the Clear + Brilliant Laser

Looking for a solution to treat melasma? 

Look no further than our Clear + Brilliant Laser Treatment. This treatment requires almost no downtime and is not painful.

Being a non-invasive laser, it requires no surgery or injections, while providing noticeable results.

What is Melasma? 

Melasma is a hyperpigmentation skin disorder that is difficult to treat. It can look like your skin is uneven, with discoloration and dark spots. Certain things can irritate or trigger melasma, like hormones and the sun. 

Melasma can be considered chronic, in which case treatment would be the way to handle it rather than letting it work its way out on its own. This is when we would recommend the Clear + Brilliant Treatment to our patients. 

Who gets Melasma?

According to research at the Cleveland Clinic, women are much more likely to get melasma than men, but it is possible in everyone. If you have darker brown skin or tend to tan well, you are more likely to get melasma than those who have fair skin. Pregnant women are the most likely to get melasma due to hormones, although the relation between hormones and melasma is unknown! 

How can Melasma be treated?

Melasma can be treated with the Clear + Brilliant Laser’s 1927-nm diode laser, which helps with hyperpigmentation, sun spots, anti-aging, freckles, and more. Along with in office treatments like the Clear and Brilliant laser, it is also recommended to treat melasma with topical skin lighteners like hydroquinone to maintain post-treatment results.

What is the Clear + Brilliant Laser Treatment?

The Clear + Brilliant Laser Treatment is a popular laser used to improve melasma, skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles, texture, sun damage, and reduce pore size. It’s commonly used to treat the face, neck, and chest. This treatment duration is about 30-45 minutes long. 

What does Clear + Brilliant feel like?

The provider will apply numbing cream before treatment to ensure the treatment is comfortable. Patients have described that after receiving the Clear + Brilliant laser treatment, their face felt warm, almost like a sunburn but that feeling went away within the hour. 

What is the downtime after the Clear and Brilliant treatment?

Clear + Brilliant only requires about 2-3 hours of downtime, which is really great compared to most lasers which require multiple days. Following treatment, you may experience some pink/red tones to the skin, however this only will last a few hours. The next week or so after treatment, your skin will feel like sandpaper, but it is not visible, just noticeable to the touch.

Another white paper on “Treatment of Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation in Patients with Darker Skin Types Using a Low Energy 1927 nm Non-Ablative Fractional Laser” concluded that Clear and Brilliant “1927 nm wavelength laser is a safe and effective modality for improving post inflammatory hyperpigmentation in patients with darker skin types.”
