There is no denying that laser hair removal treatments will help you get rid of unwanted hair on your legs, arms, bikini area, face, chest and back.
While laser hair removal can be done at any time of year, the winter season is the best time to begin.
Here are three benefits to starting laser hair removal in the winter.
If you begin laser hair removal in the winter, by the time the warm weather arrives you will have reached optimum results.
During the winter, there is less chance your skin will be exposed to the sun. When getting laser hair removal, it is not recommended to have treatments done on skin with active sun exposure or sunburn.
After treatment, you need to keep the targeted areas of your body out of sunlight. It is easier to do so in the winter because you will most likely be wearing more clothing.

There is only one Botox but there are other similar neurotoxins on the market called Dysport, Xeomin and Jeuveau.
What is the difference between Botox and Dysport?
Botox was FDA approved in 2002 and was the first neurotoxin used for cosmetic purposes. Botox Cosmetic treats moderate to severe lines on the forehead and crows’ feet. Dysport is a prescription injection for temporary improvement of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines). It was FDA approved in 2009 in the United States. Dysport may act quicker in some patients than Botox in seeing results. The biggest difference between Botox and Dysport is the quantity of units needed due to the potency of Dysport. Dysport requires 2-3 units to 1 unit of Botox so if an area requires 25 units of Botox, you may need 50 plus units of Dysport. While Dysport maybe cheaper than Botox, the quantity of units of Dysport physicians need to use is more than Botox and thus there is not a big difference in price. In addition, Dysport has been shown to drift more than Botox causing relaxation of neighboring muscles. Unlike other toxins, Dysport contains cow milk protein and therefore cannot be used for those that are allergic to milk.
What is the difference between Botox and Xeomin?
XEOMIN® is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults for a short period of time (temporary). FDA approved in 2011 in the United States. The cost of Xeomin is about the same as Botox and the number of units needed for treatment is the same as Botox. Xeomin is said to have a slower onset at day 4 vs Botox is 72 hours. It is a pure form of botulinum toxin and can be used for patients with resistance build up to other toxins.
What is the difference between Botox and Jeuveau?
Jeuveau™ is the newest neurotoxin also know in the market as Newtox. The prabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs injection is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines). FDA approved in 2019. Jeuveau can cost less than Botox but with Botox running promotions, they typically are similar in price. While Botox is approved for therapeutic and cosmetic treatments such aseyelid spasms, severe underarm sweating, migraines, overactive bladder, pediatric upper limb spasticity, and relaxing wrinkles, Jeuveau is only approved for cosmetic purposes. Since Botox has been on the market the longest, there are more clinical safety studies than Jeuveau.
Which neurotoxin is right for you?
It is best to discuss all your options with a physician during your consultation.

What is a Botox Party?

Microneedling, also know as Collagen Induction Therapy is a medical aesthetic procedure that uses very small needles to repeatedly penetrate layers of the skin in order to create a wound healing cascade.
This results in microscopic holes or microchannels in the dermis.
This treatment improves the appearance of acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, skin tone and texture.
History of Microneedling:
In the 1950’s mesotherapy was discovered by Dr. Michel Pistor. He used a meso device with one needle.
He came up with the concept that pricking the skin would promote collagen formation.
Then in 1995, subcision came around which was a new method of treating depressed scars and wrinkles.
Following subcision, came needle dermabrasion in 1997.
This treatment involved using a tattoo pistol to treat scars.
Patients saw improvement in scar texture, appearance and color, however this treatment was very time and labor intensive due to use of only one needle.
In 1998, Dr. Des Fernandes from South Africa developed a small needling stamping device and presented his study on needling at a conference in San Francisco.
By the year 2000, the first medical Microneedling device called the Dermaroller was invented by Horst Liebl.
This device consisted of many fine needles on a drum shaped roller.
By the mid-2000’s, Microneedling grew popular in medical offices, medspas, and with patients.
In 2018, the SkinPen Microneedling device was FDA cleared to improve the appearance of acne scars of adults 22 years of age and older.
It was designed for use by licensed healthcare practitioners or individuals directed by practitioners.
The science behind the Microneedling treatment
The skin goes through three phases of wound healing.
First the skin is injured which causes inflammation and releases growth factors.
Then the tissue goes into the proliferation phase where the fibroblasts release growth factors, glycoproteins, and collagen causing the epidermal cells to migrate to the wound.
Then tissue and capillaries form, and fibroblasts continue to proliferate.
In this phase, the dermal thickness increases.
In the last phase of microneedling wound healing, the tissue is remodeled which causes a skin tightening effect by promoting fresh new collagen.
Complete tissue remodeling can take place from 3 weeks to 1 year.
Most remodeling completes after 6 months.
A study by Fernandes, D. Oral showed 400% more collagen was produced after 6 months following a Microneedling treatment.
Microneedling for Wrinkles & Acne Scars
As we age, our skin thins and our epidermal layer of skin thickness decreases.
One study showed that the thickness of collagen in a 2 year old dermis is about 1.37 um vs. the thickness of collagen in a 90 year old has an average of .52 um.
The collagen loss surrounding the scar creates a cave like and shadowing appearance
When combining the effects of aging skin with uneven acne scars, the result is a more prominent appearance of acne scars.
With Microneedling, the wound healing process creates collagen and increases the thickness of the dermis to create a more a youthful appearance as well as helps to repair acne scars.
To reduce the appearance of acne scars in adults and improve the appearance of surrounding skin, you must treat both effectively.
What is the best and safest medical grade Microneedling device?
The SkinPen is the only FDA cleared and legally marketed automated, non-surgical Microneedling device on the market. It is proven safe and effective to treat and improve the appearance of acne scars in adults aged 22 and older.
What are some side effects of Microneedling?
Dryness, rough skin, tightness, redness, itching, peeling, discomfort, tenderness and burning are some of the side effects that some patients have seen last from 1 to 6 days post Microneedling.
How will my skin look after Microneedling?
Your skin may have an appearance of a mild sunburn to moderate sunburn.
What are the contraindications for Microneedling or reason why someone should not receive a Microneedling treatment?
Patients who have the following should not receive Microneedling: – Have active skin cancer in the treatment area – Have open wounds, sore, or irritated skin in the treatment area – Have an allergy to stainless steel or anesthetic – Have a hemorrhagic bleeding disorder or a hemostatic bleeding dysfunction. – Are pregnant or nursing – Are currently taking drugs with ingredients of isotretinoin such as Accutane.
What areas can not be Microneedled?
Microneedling should not be done around the orbital rim such as the eye lids.
How should I prepare for a Microneedling treatment?
Avoid excessive sun exposure. No sunburn. Discontinue to use topical retinoids 24 hours prior to Microneedling. Avoid treatment if you have active breakouts or open lesions. Allow 24 hours after auto immune therapy. Wait at least 6 months before oral isotretinoin use.
What to avoid after Microneedling?
You should avoid sweaty exercise and sun exposure 72 hours post your Microneedling treatment. In addition, you should avoid other facial treatments for a month after Microneedling.
Which products should I use post Microneedling?
You should use Vitamin C as it is a great antioxidant and helps with rebuilding collagen. Vitamin A is also recommended to use after Microneedling as it promotes cell turnover, decreases collagen degradation, and helps to thicken the dermal layer. Also, copper with peptides as it plays a role in the production of collagen and elastin that the body is not able to produce by itself. Other products that would benefit are Magnesium, as it is a great atioxidant, Zinc because it helps to reduce inflammation and promotes collagen production, and Ginger Extact because it prevents further damage to the skin caused by UV exposure.
Why are good skin care products so important to use after Microneedling?
They can help reduce inflammation, provide moisture, aid in wound healing, improve and maintain aesthetic procedure outcomes, and reduce the risk of potential complications.
Which products or ingredients should I avoid using after Microneedling?
Ingredients known to increase inflammation should be avoided as well as those that hinder the skin’s ability to repair and remodel. These include: – Formaldehyde releasing preservatives – Silicone/Methicone/Dimethicone – Dyes – Fragrances – Petroleum – Glycol – Sulphates – Mineral Oil – Parabens – Citrus derived preservatives It is best to follow the post treatment instructions and products recommended to you by your medical aesthetic provider.
What is the difference between a Dermaroller and a Microneedling pen?
A Dermaroller is an over the counter needling device and Microneedling pen is a medical aesthetic device only allowed to be used in medical aesthetic practices.
What is better Dermarolling or Microneedling?
Mechanical microneedling with an FDA cleared Microneedling device such as the SkinPen produces more microchannels with one pass than created by a Dermaroller with many passes.
How long does it take for the micro-channels created during Microneedling to close after treatment?
One study showed that microchannels created during Microneedling close after 24 hours.
How deep into the skin does Microneedling penetrate?
The SkinPen microneedling device is able to go up to 2.5 mm which is the highest depth of penetration that is proven safe for patients.
“Bacne” and back acne scarring are among the many new sought after treatments in the skin care field.
Whether you experience active acne or acne scarring on the back, or both, there are solutions out there that have worked wonders with clearing up the skin and improve hyperpigmentation.
The most effective treatments today include the VI Peel, Hydrafacial and Microneedling.
VI Peel For Bacne
The VI Peel is a gentle but powerful medical grade chemical peel that can be be customized with boosters to treat many different skin care concerns from hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, texture, wrinkles, acne, and bacne.
This aesthetic procedure can be performed on the face, neck, chest and back.
It’s extremely effective in treating “bacne” and back acne scars.
The VI peel works by creating micro-damage to the skin’s top layer, causing peeling which in turns stimulates new tissue growth, shedding off old unhealthy skin and bringing out new healthy skin.
Because of the thicker skin on the back, peeling starts around day 7 and can last 4-7 days.
Due to the longer peeling duration, back peels should be done every 6-8 weeks and a series of 2-6 treatments are recommended for optimal results.
Microneedling For Back Acne
Microneedling is a great treatment option for back acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, minimizing pore size and fine lines and wrinkles.
It involves pricking the skin with tiny sterilized needles to stimulate an immune response from the body to produce new collagen and elastin to heal the injured areas leaving the skin rejuvenated and corrected of inconsistencies.
Healing time takes about 5-7 days with minimal down time and a series of 3 is recommended for optimal results.
Minor side effects should be expected after this treatment, such as redness, bruising or inflammation, but usually clear up in a few days
Hydrafacial For The Back
The Clarifying Hydrafacial is another treatment option for “Bacne” and can be done in conjunction with either the VI Peel or Microneedling.
This treatment uses a combination of glycolic acid, salicylic acid and Blue LED light therapy to target bacteria, decongest the skin and control oil production.
First, the back is deeply cleansed, softening the sebum to aid in extractions and remove any impurities.
With a vortex tip, the skin is exfoliated with a gentle glycolic and salicylic acid peel.
Afterwards comes extractions, followed by hydrating the skin with hyaluronic acid, detoxifying antioxidants, and firming peptides for deep moisturization and hydration.
The HydraFacial treatment for the back leaves skin looking healthy and hydrated.
Monthly treatments are recommended for optimal results.
Acne and acne scarring on the face and the body can be extremely frustrating and leave you feeling self-conscious.
With the help of a physician and medical aesthetician, they can customize a treatment plan to get your back acne under control and help you start feeling your best.

A jawline or chin filler injectable treatment with Voluma is typically done with a cannula which means less bleeding and bruising, leading to better comfort and a faster recovery.
The injections at Healthy Solutions by Dr. Luciano Medspa are administered by an experienced Physician or Nurse Injector.
The filler injections to the chin and jawline area with Voluma result in a smooth and natural appearance and are known to last for 12 – 24 month.
Voluma for chin enhancement can improve the profile
A chin enhancement with Juvederm Voluma filler adds definition to the lower facial region without the need for getting a chin implant.
It can also reduce the appearance of a double chin and turn back years to the overall look of your face.
In addition, for those with a longer nose, adding volume to the chin can help make the nose appear smaller and improve the balance of the face and profile.
Why is the chin so important when it comes to your overall beauty?
The chin is a critical feature in the construction of a well-balanced face.
It should match the cheeks and rest of the face for a symmetrical appearance.
Whether it’s genetic or part of our aging process, the soft tissue in our jawline breaks down creating what is known as jowls, or sagging skin below your chin.
The loss of collagen in the lower facial region can cause the chin to look hollow and weak often disrupting the framework of our face.
The results are an imbalanced facial structure, a less desirable profile, and the potential for, now you’re not gonna like this one…a double chin.
Sorry folks, no matter how hard you go at the gym there’s no workout to combat gravity.

Shave. Tweeze. Wax. Repeat – an endless ritual we all must endure unless, of course, you opt for laser hair removal.
What is laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal is a non-invasive, safe method used to remove and permanently reduce unwanted hair.
The process involves pulses of light that destroys the hair follicle and hair bulb.
This popular treatment has has actually been around since the 1960s, but it did not become available to the public until the late ’90s.
Since then, laser hair removal has become the fastest and most effective way to remove and permanently minimize hair growth from the face, underarms, arms, legs, back, bikini area, and chest.
How much is laser hair removal?
The average cost starts at $89.00 per session for a small area such as the chin and the cost increases for larger areas.
According to those who have been liberated from the need to continuously shave, wax, and tweeze, laser hair removal is the beacon of light that has saved us from the perils of infinite hair growth.
Let’s delve into the most frequently asked questions.
Most Frequently Asked Laser Hair Removal Questions:
1. Is laser hair removal permanent?
It is a long-term solution to reduce unwanted hair. While it permanently reduces hair growth, some hair follicles that were damaged but not destroyed during treatment may regrow. After 6 treatments, you can expect a marked reduction in hair. Any regrowth will be lighter and less noticeable and can be managed with touch-up treatments every six to 12 months.
2. Is laser hair removal painful?
Patients can expect a quick “Snap” that is considered more of a mild discomfort than pain. Numbing creams are available upon request, but it is not usually necessary.
3. Will laser hair removal get rid of ingrown hairs?
Yes! Laser hair removal clears away ingrown hairs by destroying the hair follicle and prevents the hair from coiling under.
4. Does laser hair removal work on blonde hair?
As it turns out, blondes don’t have all the fun. Unfortunately, white, blonde, red, or grey hair do not respond to treatment because there is not enough melanin. Melanin is the pigment found in skin and hair color. Even if you are not naturally any of those colors, but dye your hair on the outside, the treatment still won’t work. The laser energy goes below the top layer and affects the stem cells adjacent to the hair shaft. There needs to be color all the way down the hair shaft to attract light and destroy the follicle.
5. Can laser hair removal cause cancer?
No! The treatment doesn’t cause skin cancer. The amount of radiation is a minimal amount that does not cause harm to the skin. In addition, there is no research to date that show light lasers cause cancer. The laser we use at Healthy Solutions Medspa is safe and FDA cleared for the reduction of hair. The wavelengths are in the safe zone.
6. Will laser hair removal help with acne?
Lasers and other light treatments have been seen to reduce acne; however, laser hair removal is not intended to eliminate acne on its own. Other treatments and medications would be best suitable to treat acne.
7. How does laser hair removal work?
Light is used to target and destroy hair follicles responsible for hair growth without harming surrounding tissue.
8. How many laser hair removal sessions do I need?
Typically, 6 sessions are required to affect all your unwanted hair. The time between laser hair removal treatments depends on the area you are treating. Four weeks is recommended between laser hair removal sessions on the face, 4-6 weeks between treatments on the underarms or bikini, and 8-10 weeks between treatments on the legs or back.
9. Where can I get laser hair removal done?
Search for best laser hair removal near me. Be sure to inquire about what type of laser is being used, the center’s qualifications and experience, the cost of treatment, and, most of all, read their online reviews. If you are located in Bucks County, PA or the surrounding area and are looking for the best laser hair removal treatments near you, contact us at Healthy Solutions Medspa.
Coolsculpting is an FDA-approved, non-invasive treatment for fat reduction. It uses a scientifically proven mechanism, known as cryolipolysis to freeze away and destroy fat cells without harming the skin or surrounding tissue. Over time, your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells, resulting in 20%-25% reduction of fat in a treated area. This treatment is a safe and effective way to reduce excess fat on the abdomen, love handles, back fat, bra fat, chest, thighs, arms, and double chin. Results are long-term and fat cells treated are permanently destroyed.
Is Coolsculpting painful?
Most people find Coolsculpting to be very comfortable. During the procedure you may experience sensations of pulling, tugging, intense cold, and tingling at the treatment site. These sensations subside as the area becomes numb a few minutes into the treatment.
When is the best time of the year to get the Coolsculpting treatment?
Before summer is the perfect time to have a Coolsculpting treatment because it will give you more confidence in a swimsuit. However, cool sculpting can be done any time of the year.
Why is now the best time to get Coolsculpting?
Social distancing has left many of us with excess fat from sitting around the house, working from home and lack of exercise which is also why it is a great time to do it.
What areas of the body can be treated with Coolsculpting?
The Coolsculpting treatment can reduce 20-25% of fat from the belly, love handles, thighs, arms, double chin, bra fat, back fat and more…
How long is a Coolsculpting treatment?
It depends on the area of the body you are treating. Most Coolsculpting treatments take 35 minutes. Coolsculpting to freeze away the double chin is 45 minutes. Treating multiple areas of the body can take a few hours to treat. During this time, most people watch TV or take a nap while getting rid of their stubborn fat.
Is Coolsculpting just for women?
Coolsculpting is a popular non-surgical fat reduction treatment for both men and women. Men love getting this quick no-downtime treatment.
How does Coolsculpting compare to Liposuction?
Coolsculpting is a non-invasive alternative to Liposuction. There is no downtime, meaning you can go to work or the gym immediately following the treatment. At our Medspa, we offer WiFi and Netflix available to our patients, which makes it easy to accomplish work or catch up on your favorite Netflix series during the treatment. Coolsculpting is non-surgical, and therefore leaves no scarring, swelling or bruising, so no one will even know you had anything done. You can even put a bathing suit on right away following a Coolsculpting treatment, where as post liposuction patients are required to wear compression garments and have to cover their scars if they will be in the sun. Another benefit is that it is done in a comfortable and private medical office as opposed to a very crowded hospital setting especially now during this covid-19 pandemic. In addition, liposuction can be dangerous and there are many risks of complications with anesthesia, bleeding, and infection, which is why cool sculpting is a much safer option.
How many treatments of Coolsculpting will I need?
While you will see up to a 20-25% fat reduction in the treated area after a single treatment, it depends on the person and the area being treated. For some, one Coolsculpting treatment is enough to get the best results. While others may need two or three treatments to reach their desired results. We offer free consultations at our office to customize your treatment plan and determine if additional treatments are necessary to reach your desired outcome.
Can I workout after the Coolsculpting treatment?
Yes. You can resume your normal day to day activities right after treatment and can exercise.
How to choose the right Coolsculpting treatment center?
In choosing a Coolsculpting center near you, we recommend looking at their before and after photos on their website or on their Instagram page. Learn More About The Coolsculpting Treatment at Healthy Solutions Medspa:
We recently asked our Aesthetician Erica what common questions she gets asked the most about skincare at our Medical Spa in Bucks County.
But before we get into those questions…
What is an Aesthetician?
An Aesthetician is someone that works in a medical setting and is overseen by a Medical Doctor, that can help improve your skin. They can help you select medical grade skincare products, chemical peels, and laser treatments that would benefit you the most.
Why is everyone confused about skincare?
Reading beauty magazines and scrolling down your Instagram feed, we are all inundated with so many treatments and products for our skin that it can be overwhelming.
Like many of us, you probably have more than a few cleansers that you have tried over the years, masks that you have applied at home, and over the counter eye creams and moisturizers that you dabbled with.
Have they worked? Maybe? Did they cause you to break out or dry your skin? Were they the right products for your skin?
Those that are looking to see quicker results in the improvement of their skin turn to an Aesthetician at a Medical Spa.
What are the common questions asked of an Aesthetician at a Medical Spa?
In what order should I apply my skin care products?
You should always start by removing makeup, cleanse, tone, serum/treatment, eye cream, moisturizer, sunscreen. It is important to apply products in the correct order to get the best results.
Can I use drugstore products on my skin?
Drugstore products are not recommended by skin care professionals because they contain tons of fillers, irritants, and low quality ingredients. They only add minuscule amounts of the “good” ingredients so they can claim to be effective on the packaging. Medical grade products contain more beneficial ingredients and are highly concentrated so you need less of it. Whereas, drugstore products are so watered down they won’t last you nearly as long.
Where can I purchase medical grade products?
You should always purchase medical grade products from a medical spa or doctor’s office to make sure you’re getting legitimate products. There are a lot of fake products sold online that are cheaper because they are most likely expired or have different ingredients than the original. Also, you risk having a reaction or break out due to not knowing the actual ingredients that are in it. You should always consult with an Aesthetician or Doctor first to choose what medical grade products will be most beneficial for your skin type and concerns.
Why is sunscreen so important?
Wearing sunscreen every day can protect you from exposure to UV radiation that can burn the skin and cause skin cancer. Always make sure your sunscreen has an SPF of at least 30 and reapply every 2 hours. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, up to 80 percent of the sun’s UV rays can pass through clouds so it’s important to wear it even on cloudy days. Another benefit of wearing sunscreen is that it slows down premature aging of the skin. It also helps maintain an even skin tone by preventing discoloration and dark spots due to sun damage.
At what age should I start using a retinoid?
Everyone over the age of 30 should be using a retinoid like Tretinoin cream. It will speed up cell turnover which slows down as we age and causes fine lines and wrinkles to appear. Tretinoin cream is also great for treating acne, so it is recommended for patients with acneic skin as well as mature or “aging” skin.
Will Dermaplaning cause my hair to grow back darker and more course?
Dermaplaning is a safe procedure for exfoliating the epidermis and ridding the skin of fine vellus hair. Many patients are concerned that the hair will grow back darker and courser after dermaplaning. However this is not the case. Vellus hair, also known as peach fuzz, will grow back at the same rate and texture due to its superficial nature and lack of complexity within the follicle.
What can I do to improve dark spots?
There are many different options to treat hyperpigmentation so it’s always best to consult with your Aesthetician to create a customized treatment plan. A few great options are Clear + Brilliant laser, VI Peel, Vitamin C serum, and Hydroquinone cream.
What can I do for blotchy, red skin?
A Photofacial or IPL, also known as Intense Pulsed Light treats skin pigmentation. A Photofacial can treat those pesky broken capillaries that many people get around their nose.
Is laser hair removal painful?
Everyone tolerates pain differently, but for most people laser hair removal is tolerable and hurts less than waxing. It also depends on the area of the body being lasered, because some areas are more sensitive to pain than others. It’s often compared to the feeling of a rubber band snapping. A numbing cream may be applied upon request or you can take an over-the-counter pain reliever before the treatment.
If I am a darker complexion does that mean I can’t get laser hair removal?
Although there are certain lasers that can only be done on lighter skin types, there are also some that are safe on all skin tones. The laser we use at Healthy Solutions Medspa can be done on all skin types and even has a melanin reader that helps choose what setting to use for ultimate results in a safe manner.
Is it bad to pop pimples on my own?
If you squeeze an inflamed pimple that’s not ready to be extracted, you can actually damage your skin further and can make the breakout worse by spreading bacteria. To avoid long-lasting marks and scars, you should always see an Aesthetician at a medical spa. There’s a proper way to extract blackheads, and a Hydrafacial treatment is one of the most gentle and effective options.
How far ahead should I schedule a Hydrafacial before an event?
You can schedule a Hydrafacial as late as the day-of the event if you’ve had it before. If it’s your first time, it’s best to schedule two or three days before so that your skin has time to relax just in case you have any reactions.
How long is the peeling process of a VI Chemical Peel?
The skin usually starts to peel anywhere from 2-3 days following a VI Peel and it can last up to a week. If you have an event, it is best to schedule a few weeks ahead of time.
How does an Aesthetician determine what procedures are best for my skin?
An experienced Aesthetician in a medical spa will ask you a few questions to determine what type of treatment is best. It’s best to be honest when discussing your skin type and what products you use at home. Also let your Aesthetician know of any allergies you have and medications you take. This will help your Aesthetician give you the best customized treatment plan for your skin.
How to find the right Aesthetician?
When scheduling a skincare appointment, make sure to select a reputable and established Medical Spa. Read their Facebook and Google reviews to see what their clients have said about the facility and the results.
