At Healthy Solutions Medspa, we offer a treatment to correct the “gummy smile” that is done by using Botox.

A gummy smile is when you smile, your gums show below your upper lip. This can be treated with Botox to create an even more natural, beautiful smile!

What Can Cause a Gummy Smile? 

Gummy smile can be caused by a few things, including:

  • The way your jaw bone is developed within the gum tissue
  • Genetics, like small upper lips, short teeth, or excess gum tissue
  • A muscle in your upper lip lifting, causing more gum to show

How to treat your gummy smile with Botox

Gummy smiles are treated with BOTOX® in between your upper lip and nose. This takes the muscle in your smile and freezes it to relax your smile to not show your gums. What is a Lip Flip?

A lip flip is a treatment that enhances the lips with Botox injections to create a fuller appearance. 

How Much is a Lip Flip?

Lip flips use very little amount of Botox (between 4-8 units) and is a more affordable treatment when comparing it to lip filler. At Healthy Solutions Medspa, the lip flip can range from $55-$110.

How Long Does it Last?

Just like Botox on the face, Botox on the lips (lip flips) lasts around three to five months.

Does a lip flip hurt?

Patients have found lip flips to be almost pain-free. There is a small sting when being injected into the lip, however the pain is very well tolerable. The actual treatment time is 5 -10 minutes.

If you want fuller lips, consider Lip Filler

Patients find a lot of times they want additional volume in the lips after receiving a lip flip. We recommend thinking about adding lip filler to your lips along with the lip flip to add volume.

Post-Care

After having a lip flip, patients should avoid working out for 24 hours, due to the injection holes needing to be clean. Bruising may occur, so icing the area may relieve some of the bruising and swelling. Avoid sleeping face down.
