Vitamin C IV: It’s More Than Just A Vitamin

IV Vitamin C near me Bucks County, PA

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a vitamin your body needs to form blood vessels, cartilage, muscle and collagen in bones. Vitamin C is also vital to your body’s healing process. It has been used as an effective anti-oxidant, immune booster, anti-viral, and anti-aging supplement when administered and dosed effectively. When given through intravenous route, the higher concentrations and immediate availability to the body makes a Vitamin C IV drip a popular treatment for a variety of conditions.

Vitamin C IV Frequently Asked Questions:

What Is the Difference in Taking Vitamin C Orally vs. Getting IV Vitamin C?

When taken orally, vitamin C passes through the digestive tract and is only partially absorbed. Many factors can inhibit the absorption of vitamins in the gut including stress, smoking, alcohol, medications, leaky gut, inflammation, and infection. Also, oral dosing can lead to GI side effects such as abdominal cramping and diarrhea. When given through IV Vitamin therapy, vitamin C is 100 percent absorbed into the blood stream and can be given in doses 30-70x that of oral dosing. Therefore, a response can be much more therapeutic in achieving results related to disease prevention and treatment.
In addition, Vitamin C is processed by the body in different ways when given oral vs IV. Oral doses act more like an antioxidant protecting cells from damage from reactive oxygenated compounds. IV vitamin C not only provides a higher level of antioxidant protection, but can also produce hydrogen peroxide at higher doses which can attack infections and cancer cells. Also, it is important to know that the FDA does not regulate oral over the counter vitamins. This can often times lead to questions in quality. In contrast to oral Vitamin C, IV vitamins come directly from a pharmacy that has strict regulations ensuring accurate potency and quality. IV vitamins require a prescription from a physician.

How does IV Vitamin C benefit the Immune System?

When a patient needs an immediate effect, IV vitamin C can provide the body the quick and effective immune boost which is important in the early stages of infection.
IV Vitamin C can help protect your cells against the effects of free radicals (unstable molecules that can damage cells in your body causing illness and aging). This is known as oxidative stress. An antioxidant can help neutralize the unstable free radicals. As we age, we have less ability to control this damage resulting in physical appearance changes like wrinkles and hair loss. Oxidative stress is linked to many disease states such as dementia, heart disease, autoimmune disease, arthritis, cancer, and diabetes. Free radicals are increased with smoking, alcohol, pollution, pesticides, and certain foods.
Using vitamin C through an IV can provide a much higher level of antioxidant function.
There are many vitamins and supplements classified as antioxidants, but they are not identical in their effectiveness in modifying disease states and aging. IV vitamin C provides a potent and effective dose that is just not comparable to other oral antioxidants.
Oral vitamin C has been shown to shorten the course of viral infections. Oral doses of 2000 mg a day have been shown to be more effective then 1000 mg a day. The serum concentrations of oral Vitamin C are short lived, and a person would need to take consistently to get the benefits. Although helpful, oral vitamin C is limited in the therapeutic response because of its restrictions in onset and potency related to the digestive process.

How does Vitamin C IV help treat viruses?

The ability to form hydrogen peroxide is only possible at the higher serum concentrations only achievable by IV route. Viruses are susceptible to this reactive oxygen species inhibiting their growth while the body’s own cells have a protective mechanism that prevents its own cell damage.

IV Vitamin C also provides renewed resources of important antioxidant function which is often quickly depleted when fighting a significant infection. The ability to maintain consistent higher levels might help the immune response which can be harmful when it goes into overdrive. This systemic inflammatory response (SIRS) can be more harmful than the actual virus. IV Vitamin C may be one key method to help balance the immune response that can be difficult to regulate with serious infections.

Can high-dose Vitamin C cure or kill cancer cells?

High dose vitamin C is often times used as adjunctive treatment when fighting cancer. Its role is to stop the replication of cancer cells without damaging other cells. It inhibits hyaluronidase which is key in the ability of cancer cells to replicate and metastasize. IVC is used in some as monotherapy or an add on to chemo/radiation. It may also be used in cancer patients to improve quality of life as it helps protect the bodies healthy cells from the effects of cancer or chemotherapy.

Can IV Vitamin C help treat Lymes Disease & Inflammatory Arthritis?

Lymes disease, Inflammatory arthritis, and chronic fatigue syndrome are often treated with high dose vitamin C protocols. By lowering the inflammation and enhancing the immune response, patients with these difficult to treat conditions often get significant improvement when traditional treatment do not work.

Can other vitamins or minerals be added to IV Vitamin C therapy?

Vitamin C can be combined with other vitamins in IV Vitamin drips which can lead to a variety of health benefits. Some common combinations include magnesium, b12, b complex, essential minerals, and calcium.

Does IV Vitamin C therapy help improve the skin?

Yes. IV Vitamin C has been used for its effect on lightening skin. It is often used along with glutathione – another potent antioxidant to achieve the desired improved skin appearance and as an effective anti-aging combination.

How often should I get a Vitamin C IV?

For general wellness 1 to 2 times a month is a common routine. For mild viral infections 1 or 2 can be used as needed. For more significant infections like COVID-19, clinical trials are investigating daily infusions for 1 week. For cancer therapy 1-3 times a week with higher dosed vitamin C is often used.

Healthy Solutions Medspa

What is the dosage of an IV Vitamin C treatment?

The dosing of IV vitamin C can range from lower doses of 1-2 grams and higher doses of 50 grams. Smaller doses can be infused through a slow IV push and can take around 5-15 minutes. Common doses of 10-25 grams of IV vitamin C is used for most medical conditions as well as anti-aging and disease prevention. These doses are mixed in sterile water often with other vitamins and nutrients. These drips are infused over 30-60 minutes. Finally, “high dose vitamin C” is typically around 50 grams and is used mostly used for cancer and more significant infections and chronic inflammatory conditions. This potent dose takes around 120 minutes to infuse.

What are the side effects of IV Vitamin C?

Most patients tolerate Vitamin C infusions very well. Without involving the digestive tract, we can eliminate the GI issues such as nausea, diarrhea or abdominal cramping that some get with oral vitamin dosing. Higher doses of IV vitamin C can lower blood glucose levels and it is encouraged for those patients to eat before infusions. Caution should be used in pregnancy as there is not much safety data available.

How do I know if IV Vitamin C therapy is right for me?

The best way to determine if IV vitamin C is right for you is to consult with a physician first. A medical history and exam should be performed to best customize a treatment that suits your needs. IV Vitamin C might be just what your body needs to get into an optimal state of health.

How much does a Vitamin C IV Cost?

The price ranges between $149 – $250 depending on the amount of vitamin C used and other vitamins added. IV Vitamin C treatment Bucks County

Botox vs. Fillers: Key Differences, Benefits, and Best Uses

Botox vs. Filler

What is Botox?

Botox is a treatment that temporarily reduces wrinkles and fine lines by relaxing facial muscles. It’s a go-to option for a smoother, youthful look. Most people search for “botox near me” for easy access to treatment.

Areas Botox Can Treat

Botox effectively tackles forehead lines, crow’s feet, frown lines, and other dynamic wrinkles caused by facial expressions. It’s also useful in treating excessive sweating.

What is Filler?

Dermal fillers like Juvederm are injectables designed to add volume, smooth lines, and enhance facial contours. This process is notably popular for lip enhancement, hence “lip filler near me” being a common search.

Areas Fillers Can Treat

Fillers target lips, cheeks, under-eye areas, and are brilliant at smoothing nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and filling recessed scars.

How to Choose Between Botox and Filler?

Your choice between Botox and fillers should meet your cosmetic goals. Botox is perfect for temporary wrinkle smoothing, while fillers offer volume and contour solutions. Many seek out the best “Botox provider” or filler specialist that can create a great treatment plan to enhance your natural beauty.

Can Botox and Filler be used together for enhanced results?

Combining Botox and dermal fillers is effective for enhanced facial rejuvenation. Botox targets dynamic wrinkles, while fillers address volume loss and static wrinkles, resulting in a comprehensive facial treatment. This combination provides longer-lasting effects, creates a more natural-looking outcome, and allows for personalized treatment plans.

How should I decide which treatment is right for me?

Deciding between Botox and dermal fillers depends on your specific cosmetic needs and treatment goals:

Botox is effective for reducing dynamic wrinkles from facial expression, such as crow’s feet and frown lines, typically lasting about 3-4 months.

Dermal Fillers are ideal for addressing static wrinkles and restoring volume, with effects possible for 6-24 months, targeting areas like nasolabial folds and under-eye hollows.

For many, combining both treatments can provide comprehensive facial rejuvenation. It’s best to consult with a qualified medical professional to tailor a plan that best suits your goals.

Dermal fillers can last from 6 months to 2 years depending on the type of filler and area treated.

Yes, Botox and fillers can be administered during the same appointment. Many patients choose to have both treatments together to achieve a more comprehensive facial rejuvenation. Botox targets dynamic wrinkles caused by muscle movement, while fillers add volume and fullness to areas like the cheeks and lips. Your provider will assess your individual needs to determine the best treatment plan.

Botox typically has minimal downtime, with most people able to resume normal activities immediately after treatment. Slight swelling or redness might occur, but it’s generally mild. Fillers may cause some swelling, bruising, or tenderness, which can last a couple of days but doesn’t usually require downtime. Both treatments offer quick recovery, making them popular options for those with busy schedules.

Why the Hydrafacial is Great To Do in the Winter

Best Hydrafacial in Bucks County

The Hydrafacial is quickly becoming one of the most sought after skin treatments available. With immediate effects and no downtime, it became obvious that this elite, but affordable treatment was going to be a patient favorite. When is the perfect time to give this treatment a try? Right now, in the winter! Why? We are here to tell you!

THE IMPORTANCE OF HYDRATION

We all know that staying hydrated is important to our overall health, because our bodies are made up of 70% water! What is the human body’s biggest organ? Believe it or not, it is the skin!  Therefore, the skin stands to gain the most from hydration. That means, we not only need to drink enough water, but that external steps such as getting treatments like the Hydrafacial are also necessary in keeping our skin hydrated.

WHAT HAPPENS TO DEHYDRATED SKIN?

The outermost layer of the skin is responsible for flushing toxins and carrying nutrients to skin cells. Without the proper amount of moisture to do so, dead cells remain on the skin to clog pores and create uneven texture, and healthy cells become thinner, resulting in low elasticity and more wrinkles. Dehydrated skin can not only be visually unappealing, but it can have fairly uncomfortable and sometimes painful effects. Not taking the extra steps to treat our skin to some well-deserved moisture can lead to cracked and even bleeding skin.

COLD WEATHER AND DRY SKIN

Chillier temperatures combined with lower humidity levels is a recipe for dry air, which can draw moisture directly from your skin. Even with avoiding the cold, harsh, winter winds outside, your skin is subjected to the dry elements of winter with indoor heat. Not only that, but our pores will contract in cold temperatures to preserve warmth, limiting the ability for oxygen to reach skin cells and help them regenerate.

BUT DOESN’T DRY SKIN MEAN LESS BREAKOUTS?

This is probably the biggest and most commonly believed myths regarding the skin. People often mistake drier skin, to less oily skin. However, when skin becomes dry, it actually reacts by over producing natural oils to compensate for the lack of moisture. These oils sit on the skin and form blemishes. Without excess moisture to form new and healthy skin cells, dead cells will camp out on the face and clog pores. Excess dead skin paired with excess oils can result in a full on break out!

MASKNE IN THE WINTER

Unfortunately, many of us are all too familiar with the term “Maskne”. Acne caused while wearing a face mask, aka “Maskne”, happens when our pores become clogged as a result of friction from certain materials, alongside heat and humidity under our masks. Exfoliation is key in preventing breakouts, but the ingredients found in at-home exfoliants, such as acids and retinol, have the ability to dry skin out. With our skin already susceptible to being parched and flaky in the winter, this is hardly ideal.

WHY THE HYDRAFACIAL IS THE SOLUTION

The common factor in all winter skin problems is a lack of hydration. Facials have obvious benefits for all skin types throughout the entirety of the year which includes the removal of dead skin cells, the cleansing of clogged pores and the relaxation of facial muscles. The Hydrafacial, however, uses a tool that makes extracting dead skin and ‘gunk’ non-invasive, and that manually infuses your skins special serum, which is customized based on your skin’s specific needs.  This means, that your skin becomes more hydrated than it would with a regular facial, and during a time when it needs it the most. That means you can schedule your treatment regardless of any holiday commitments!

Brotox: Botox for Men

Brotox: Botox for Men

Brotox

Botox is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures among both men and women.

A common misconception about Botox is that it’s a treatment only for women, but more and more men are taking part in the procedure each year and are enjoying the results from it.

Referred to as “Brotox”, Botox for Men is a popular, nonsurgical treatment used to reduce or eliminate the lines on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes.

Why are men getting Brotox?

Men get Brotox to soften and remove wrinkles, crowsfeet and 11 lines between the eyes for a more youthful and refreshed appearance.

The frown lines or furrowing on the brow area that men develop can sometimes come across as a resting angry or negative emotion that is unintended.

In today’s day and age, men are seeking quick and easy solutions to improve their appearance in order to stay competitive in the workplace, improve personal and professional relationships, or to just appear more desirable in general.

Brotox treatments are used to alleviate this negative-looking temperament in men while also enhancing the facial structure and masculine appearance.

Along with being minimally invasive nature, the attraction to Brotox is also due to how quickly it is performed and the minimal to no down time afterwards.

Which areas of the face does Brotox treat?

Men can get treated with Botox on the forehead, frown lines, crow’s feet, or eyebrows.

How does Brotox work?

Brotox injections work by relaxing the muscles by blocking the nerve endings that are responsible for static and dynamic lines or wrinkles involved in facial expression.

The procedure involves a small needle that feels like a pinch at most.

The treatment only takes about 20 minutes, so men can get the treatment on a lunch break and return to work immediately after with little to no discomfort.

The results of the treatment can be seen within two to seven days following the procedure.

Male patients have reported a high satisfaction with their treatment.

It’s effective, predictable, and lasts for three to four months on average.

Botox is also FDA-approved and has been around for over 20 years.

Botox for Men vs. Botox for Women explained:

The difference in Botox between men and women is essentially the dosing, facial structure and overall desired appearance.

Men typically require a higher dosage due to a higher muscle mass compared to women.

Depending on what the patient is looking for, Botox can be used for both masculine- and feminine-looking appearances, which is why men and women can enjoy and benefit from the effects no matter how subtle they are.

BBL vs. IPL Photofacial

bbl vs ipl photofacial

What is the difference between a BBL and an IPL photofacial?

We will explain and compare both the BBL laser treatment and the IPL photofacial treatments in this light therapy 101 guide.

What is a BBL photofacial treatment?

Broad Band Light, developed by Sciton technology, is a non-ablative treatment that can be done on the face and body.

BBL is innovative technology that sets new standards for the treatment of skin conditions associated with aging, active lifestyles, and sun damage. Broadband Light energy can be used to treat age spots, small facial veins (telangiectasias), rosacea, solar lentigines (freckles), brown spots, poikiloderma, skin laxity, acne and remove hair.

It treats the dermal layer of the skin but doesn’t remove any of the top layering or the epidermis. This treatment utilizes pulses of light energy to heat the surface of the skin while creating a healing process for improved elastin and collagen production.

Which skin conditions can a BBL treat?

BBL is commonly used to treat:

  • Acne
  • Pigmentation
  • Birthmarks
  • Rosacea
  • Skin tone / texture
  • Freckles
  • Broken capillaries
  • Age spots
  • Bruising
  • Sagging skin
  • Also slows down the aging process

What is an IPL photo facial?

An IPL stands for Intense pulsed light. An IPL treatment uses light energy to target and remove damaged skin cells or unwanted hair follicles.

Which skin condition can an IPL treat?

IPL is commonly used to treat:

  • Sun spots
  • Scarring
  • Dilated blood vessels
  • Enlarged pores
  • Varicose vein
  • Unwanted hair

So, what’s the big difference between and IPL and a BBL photofacial treatment?

First, let’s talk about similarities. Both treatments are nonsurgical, which is awesome. They both involve directing light energy into the skin to correct imperfections.

IPL has been around longer and BBL is the newest technology.

The BBL by Sciton is the latest and greatest when it comes to photofacial treatments and uses two lights vs the IPL uses one.

What areas can you treat with IPL and BBL?

You can use IPL and BBL on any part of the body, however, they work best on UV ray damaged parts, like the face, chest, shoulders, neck, etc.

What is the downtime of IPL and BBL?

With both treatments, there is minimal downtime and minimal discomfort after treatment.

What is the average treatment price for an IPL or a BBL Photofacial?

The average cost for an IPL or BBL laser treatment can range between $300-$500 depending on where you live and what area of the body you are treating.

To learn more about BBL or IPL photofacials that we offer at our premier Medical Spa in Bucks County, call us at (267) 332-5567 .

The Ultimate Guide to Microneedling 2025

Microneedling 2025

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy is a medical aesthetic procedure that uses very small needles to repeatedly penetrate layers of the skin in order to create a wound healing cascade.

This results in microscopic holes or microchannels in the dermis.

This treatment improves the appearance of acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, skin tone and texture.

History of Microneedling:

In the 1950’s mesotherapy was discovered by Dr. Michel Pistor. He used a meso device with one needle.

He came up with the concept that pricking the skin would promote collagen formation.

Then in 1995, subcision came around which was a new method of treating depressed scars and wrinkles.

Following subcision, came needle dermabrasion in 1997.

This treatment involved using a tattoo pistol to treat scars.

Patients saw improvement in scar texture, appearance and color, however this treatment was very time and labor intensive due to use of only one needle.

In 1998, Dr. Des Fernandes from South Africa developed a small needling stamping device and presented his study on needling at a conference in San Francisco.

Dr. Des Fernandes microneedling stamp

By the year 2000, the first medical Microneedling device called the Dermaroller was invented by Horst Liebl.

This device consisted of many fine needles on a drum shaped roller.

By the mid-2000’s, Microneedling grew popular in medical offices, medspas, and with patients.

In 2018, the SkinPen Microneedling device was FDA cleared to improve the appearance of acne scars of adults 22 years of age and older.

It was designed for use by licensed healthcare practitioners or individuals directed by practitioners.

The science behind the Microneedling treatment

The skin goes through three phases of wound healing.

First the skin is injured which causes inflammation and releases growth factors.

Then the tissue goes into the proliferation phase where the fibroblasts release growth factors, glycoproteins, and collagen causing the epidermal cells to migrate to the wound.

Then tissue and capillaries form, and fibroblasts continue to proliferate.

In this phase, the dermal thickness increases.

In the last phase of microneedling wound healing, the tissue is remodeled which causes a skin tightening effect by promoting fresh new collagen.

Complete tissue remodeling can take place from 3 weeks to 1 year.

Most remodeling completes after 6 months.

A study by Fernandes, D. Oral showed 400% more collagen was produced after 6 months following a Microneedling treatment.

Microneedling for Wrinkles & Acne Scars

As we age, our skin thins and our epidermal layer of skin thickness decreases.

One study showed that the thickness of collagen in a 2 year old dermis is about 1.37 um vs. the thickness of collagen in a 90 year old has an average of .52 um.

The collagen loss surrounding the scar creates a cave like and shadowing appearance

When combining the effects of aging skin with uneven acne scars, the result is a more prominent appearance of acne scars.

With Microneedling, the wound healing process creates collagen and increases the thickness of the dermis to create a more a youthful appearance as well as helps to repair acne scars.

To reduce the appearance of acne scars in adults and improve the appearance of surrounding skin, you must treat both effectively.

Ultimate Guide to Laser Hair Removal for Men in 2025

mens laser hair removal

Laser hair removal for men has become one of the most popular methods to remove body and facial hair for men. While you could shave, trim or wax, laser hair removal is the only way to get permanent results when grooming and managing body hair.

While laser hair removal is sought after by both women and men, everyone’s interest and reason for it may be different.

Why men love laser hair removal?

Men want to remove body hair for many reasons, such as managing ingrown hairs, getting rid of unwanted body hair, achieving smoother skin and more muscle definition, going fully bald, reducing folliculitis and taming inflamed hair follicles and bumps on the skin.

Why do male athletes turn to laser hair removal?

Athletes love laser hair removal because it helps with less friction, chafing, and less to no shaving for better performance and muscle definition.

Others who may just have excessive hair growth like laser hair removal to thin out or get rid of the unwanted hair in areas they have to regularly shave or wax in order to feel most comfortable.

Those that regularly shave and experience razor burn or folliculitis, the inflamed hair follicles and bumps that appear after shaving, like it to calm these skin problems and get rid of it for good.

No matter the reason for wanting to remove hair from the body, laser hair removal is the best and only option for achieving all of these results.

How does laser hair removal for men work?

Laser hair removal works by light beams targeting the hair follicles underneath the skin to essentially disrupt the hair growth cycle, without damaging the skin. The light from the laser destroys the hair shaft to inhibit or delay future growth.

It is only guaranteed that results will show permanent hair reduction instead of growth – however, depending on the number of sessions and your skin and hair type/color, permanent removal can also be achieved.

Who is a candidate for laser hair removal?

Those with lighter skin and darker hair usually experience more drastic and permanent results. It is recommended that patients do around 6-8 sessions of laser hair removal to see more permanent results.

Does laser hair removal for men hurt?

Pain levels from laser hair removal differ among each patient.

The treatment usually doesn’t hurt too much, depending on the patient’s pain tolerance and the areas being treated.

Patients report the procedure feeling like a pin prick or rubber band snapping on the skin, but if the pain is not tolerated well, numbing cream can be used beforehand if necessary.

What areas do men treat with laser hair removal?

Men receive laser hair removal on the back, chest, arms, legs, shoulders, neck, sideburns, bikini area, buttocks and/or abdomen areas.

How long is a laser hair removal treatment for men?

Depending on the treatment area, the procedure can take as little as 5 minutes and as long as 45 minutes:

Laser Hair Removal For Men Treatment Area Treatment Duration
Back 30-45 minutes
Chest 30-45 minutes

How much is laser hair removal for men?

Laser hair removal treatment ranges from $100 – $300 per session, depending on the area you choose to receive the treatment. Men should choose a facility to receive laser hair removal treatment by the reputation of the facility.

How should you get ready for your laser hair removal appointment?

To prepare for the laser hair removal process, the treatment area(s) should be shaved, however waxing or plucking hair 2-4 weeks prior should be avoided.

At least 5 days before the treatment, any exfoliation, acidic skin products or retinoids should also be avoided, and you should not be actively tanning or have any sunburn.

What can men expect after their laser hair removal treatment?

After the treatment, you can expect to have some minor redness and swelling, which will go away after a few hours. You should avoid sweating and sun exposure for at least 24 hours, so no workouts or tanning for at least 1 day following treatment.

No matter if you are looking for better comfort and performance in athletics, easier hygiene and grooming, relieving bumps on the skin that come from shaving, or just getting rid of excessive or unwanted body hair or ingrown hairs, laser hair removal is a great and safe option to feel more confident.
